Transportation & Storage Industry Salaries Rebound in 2009

The latest results of the survey on wages by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower showed that managerial salaries for the transportation and storage industry staged a strong rebound in 2009, after a slight decline in 2008.

The weighted median monthly gross salaries for a selection of managerial and professional positions increased 8.2% from S4,565 in 2008 to $4,943 in 2009. This follows the 3.5% decline between 2007 and 2008. 

Corporate planning managers received one of the highest increases in percentage terms (nearly 18%), albeit from a small sample size of less than 30 respondents. Operations and shipping managers' salaries grew more in 2009 than they did in 2008.

Logistics managers are one of the few groups whose salaries declined in 2009.

TLI-AP and DHL Launch Sustainability Supply Chain Centre

The Logistics Institute - Asia Pacifc (TLI-AP) and logistics company DHL have announced the establishment of the Sustainability Supply Chain Centre Asia Pacific (SSCCAP). The SSCCAP aims to create tools to create and benchmark sustainability logistics solutions.

The centre will be based at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and will have seven full-time employees. It wil be steered by a committee comprising members from the industry and academia.

Annual Asia Freight & Supply Chain Awards

The Logistics Institute - Asia Pacific, administrator of the Dual Masters Program in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, has won the Best Educational Course Provider Award at the 24rd Annual Asia Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA), held on 10 Jun 2010 in Shanghai, China.

This is the eight consecutive time that TLIAP has won this award.

Executive Seminar - Demand Shaping: The Illusion of Control

As part of the WDA-TLI-AP THINK Innovation! Series, a two-part programme on “Demand Shaping: The Illusion of Control” will be held from 17 – 19 May 2010.
